About
It all started when…
Construction on our home began in 2006, and three of our four children and their families lived in other parts of the world. In an effort for them to be part of the building process, I started blogging and providing photos just for our family. After the completion of the house, the blog posts slowed but continued through 2010.
During my prostate cancer treatment in 2012 in Jacksonville, FL, I started blogging again, but I stopped posting in 2014. During my proton therapy treatment for salivary gland cancer at Emory I restarted the blog on our wedding anniversary, January 25, 2020.
What does it mean?
While living in Upper Volta/Burkina Faso we spoke the language of the Mossi people group. “Ton Tenga” is the name of our small farm in northwestern Georgia, and in the More’ language it literally means “our land.” The meaning of the More’ word “n’kiema” is “old man”—that’s what our sons call me from time to time, so I have chosen to own it.
Reflections
Having lived in seven countries and traveled over 40 years in 135 countries, I have been blessed to encounter people from many cultures. The best memories are the stories that came out of these experiences. In this blog I share many of those stories from the past flavored with more current tales.
